Picture walking into your home or lobby the week of Thanksgiving and finding it already finished: the tree layered and lit, garland draped along the staircase, wreaths on the door and not a single box to unpack. That is what working with a professional Christmas decorator looks like, and for more than 20 years, Baker Design Group Dallas has made it happen for homes, hotels and corporate offices across DFW.
What most people never see is everything that happens before install day. A full-service Christmas design takes thoughtful planning, and each step needs a little lead time. Here is exactly how it works, from your first call to the day the last ornament is packed away, and why mid-October is the right moment to start.
Step One: A Conversation and a Visit
It starts with a call or an email. Within 24 hours, someone from our team reaches out to talk through what you have in mind and set a time to meet. Then one of our experienced Christmas designers comes to your home or commercial property for a free consultation.
This visit is where the design begins. Your designer looks at your architecture, your layout, how people move through the space and the pieces you already love. Have a family tree you like to decorate together? Keep that tradition, and we will design everything around it. Have décor from past seasons? We can redesign it and integrate it with new product for a look that feels fresh. Most consultations include a few theme options so you can react to color and style in person.

Step Two: A Custom Design Plan Built for Your Space

About two weeks after your consultation, your designer presents a custom Christmas design plan. As an award-winning interior designer in Dallas Fort Worth, BDG brings the same eye to holiday design that we bring to every room we create year-round: scale, proportion, texture and light, all chosen for your space specifically. No two clients ever receive the same design.
Your plan covers everything we will install, from fully decorated trees and lit or unlit garlands to custom arrangements, wreaths, topiaries and outdoor décor. Install and takedown are quoted separately at the start, so you know exactly what is included before you approve.

Step Three: Reserving Your Spot on the Install Calendar
Once you approve your plan, you are added to our Christmas installation calendar, and this is the step that makes timing matter. Our product is purchased early in the year, and our professional Christmas tree decorators and install crews can only be in so many places at once. Install dates begin filling in July, and the calendar only gets tighter from here.
Install Day: A Finished Space in a Matter of Hours

Install day is the part our clients love most. Our team arrives with everything needed and transforms your space, usually in just a few hours. Mounted pieces go up with safe clips and hooks that will not damage your walls, railings or mantels, and as a fully insured Christmas decorating company, we protect your property from start to finish.
For homeowners, that often means leaving for a few errands and coming home to Christmas. One Plano client summed it up simply: “In and out in 2 hours!” For businesses, the work happens around your day. As our friends at Million Air Dallas put it, “We were able to conduct business as usual while they worked their magic.”
After the Holidays: Takedown, Handled
When the season wraps up, our crew returns to take everything down. Every piece is carefully wrapped, organized and clearly labeled, so nothing is lost or damaged between seasons. You can choose to have your décor packed away in a space at your home or office, or let us store it for you in our climate-controlled facility, where it stays protected until next year. Either way, your space is left clean and ready for the new year, with nothing for you to sort through in January.

Why Mid-October Is the Moment to Book a Professional Christmas Decorator
Here is how the timing works. A consultation scheduled in the next week or two puts your custom design plan in hand by early November. That leaves time to approve your design and reserve an install date before Thanksgiving, when many of our clients want their homes ready for family and their businesses ready for holiday events.
Reaching out later does not always mean missing out, but it does mean fewer dates to choose from. If you want Christmas finished before your first guests arrive, now is the time to start the conversation.
